Chinese Communist Party is one the biggest party of the world. It competes with  Democratic Party in USA. Therefore, World Community always interested in this party. I will give brief history of Communist Party and then its ahchievements although, westerns didn’t believe that it would survive till now.

After the first world war China was a semi-colonial territory. Foerign capital standed in the way of the improving national capital. Industry developed very low. At this time, the resolution of the Paris Conference, giving Shandun region of China to Japan, was the reason to start liberation movement. In 1919, May 4 Beijing students protested Western interference in China.

Chinese Communist Party was founded on July 1, 1921 in Shangai by revolutaniries such  as Li Dazhao and Chen Duxiu who came out of the May Fourth Movement and who turned to Marxism after the victory of the Bolshevik Revolution (1917) in Russia. In the turmoil of 1920s China, CCP members such as Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, and Li Lisan began organizing labour unions in the cities. The CCP joined with the Nationalist Party in 1924, and the alliance proved enormously successful at first. But after liberating Shanghai, the Nationalists under Chiang Kai-shek (Jiang Jieshi) turned violently on the CCP and drove it underground in 1927.[1]

In 1931 by the helping of The  Soviet Union Mao Zedong set up the Chinese Soviet Republic.Civil war was still going on in China. In 1936 they stopped civil war and came together against Japans. Although they were defeated by Japan, in 1949 Chinese Communist Party founded People’s Republic of China (PRC) and became ruling party. Mao Zedong was the leader of PRC. He announced the cultural revolution in 1965 against oppositions. After his dead in 1976 Den Xiaoping came to power. The Cultural Revolution was formally ended, and the program of the “Four Modernizations” (of industry, agriculture, science/technology, and defense) was adopted.

The rehabilitation of Deng Xiaoping (1977) represented reestablishment of party control, which was strengthened further by events at Tiananmen Square (1989). It is currently the largest and most important governing Communist party, but it has essentially abandoned the principle of a collective economy directed by the state, emphasizing economic growth instead. It does continue to exercise exclusive political power, however, and it has actively suppressed real and perceived challenges to its power. Jiang Zemin, who was party leader from 1989 to 2002, essentially rejected the notion of class struggle in 2001 when he promoted the recruitment of business executives and entrepreneurs as party members. Jiang was succeeded as party leader by Hu Jintao.[2]

By the end of 2009, Chinese Communist Party has 77.995 million members. Among these members, females (16.94 million) share 21.7% of total CPC members; Ethnic minority members (5.13 millions) share 6.6%. 35.7% of CPC members (27.87 million) have college or higher education background. Total number of CPC branches (grass-roots branches are called zhi’bu in Chinese) 3.374 million.[3] But the door does not open for everyone and selection process is difficult. For example, 91.9% of the students at the University of Shan-Dong have applied for candidacy to the Communist Party, but only 13.5% of them passed first step. Then, these pre-screened have been screened second time and just 40% of students have been accepted as a member of `the party.According to the some students, the priority requirements of being a member of the party are outstanding achievement in the lessons, to participate in social activities, to connect to the society easily. To wear Western clothes and don’t do traditional behavior are not acceptable behaviors in appreciation.

Now, Chinese Communisr Party don’t consider themselves as a communist.Up to me, this fact is true. Because after 1990s CPC ideologies changed from communist to nationalism and socialism. Other reason is reforms in China which bring “open door” policy to China.Although, this situation is not unacceptable in Communism.

The “secret” of CCP’s success perhaps lies in its ability to adapt itself to changes of politico-social environment. Indeed, 60 years of rule has also transformed the CCP itself. It is no longer a revolutionary party but tries to attract elites from all social sectors to be its members. Today, the successes of CCP wonder some huge countries. Now China has a great ecenomic power and statistics show that if there will not be any obstacles after some years it will be the first in the world in ecenomic sphere.

This year CCP will celebrate its 90 anniversary. They are still surviving. This is the prove of Communism.
